Stormy Australia is a unique business founded on the compelling motive of saving lives at sea. Helen Moore founded Stormy Australia in 1993. The near drowning of a family member on the rugged West Coast of Tasmania was the catalyst to research and develop a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) that professional fishermen could comfortably wear and work in. The concept of INFLATABLE CLOTHING in the form of rugged wind and waterproof Vests and Jacket and yokes with integrated CO2 activated inflation systems was introduced. On activation of the inflation system, these garments are instantly transformed into a PFD Type 1 Australian standard 1512. (Lifejacket).

A range of different styles for the different needs of both professional and recreational markets have been developed including a range for offshore yachting. These styles incorporate accredited safety harnesses.

Stormy Australia operates from a purpose built factory situated in the suburb of Mornington near the city of Hobart in the State of Tasmania, Australia. This facility incorporates a Testing laboratory where products are developed and tested to International standards. Incorporating a full testing and cleaning service for existing customers.
